My dream job is to be a background designer/artist. Yes yes! I love drawing backgrounds. So I gave myself a personal challenge and I decided to draw a couple of backgrounds from my comic, Nuclear Winter. Instead of chosing some fantasy/sci-fi setting, I’m focusing on the mundane to practice my lighting and colours. I have absolutely no education in this field so I’m just learning as I go. This was done entirely from scratch, in Photoshop, with a couple of photo references for the props. It’s far from being perfect but it’s a learning process!
So anyway, this is a corner of Marco’s office, with his reading chair. I drew a lot of old, second-hand furniture because Marco still writes by hand and he’s not a computer person. I thought it fit with the old, run-down Mile-End apartment he lives in.
Fake Montreal postcards to promote my webcomic Hiver nucléaire. It was really fun to do, drawing all those landmarks under the snow! Here you have the Olympic stadium, the St-Joseph Oratory and the Old Port with the Jacques Cartier bridge. Woo!
IT’S FINALLY DONE
